Chinese characters have been around for around three and a half millenia. Shell and bone inscriptions are the oldest form of writing directly related to modern Chinese characters. In this section, we look at some aspects of shell and bone inscriptions, to characters created by the only Empress of China.
What do they look like? How are they read?
Even the Kangxi Dictionary tells us that she made 19 of them, but are there more?
